Tinactin is part of the Allylamine Antifungals class and treats Athlete's Foot, Jock Itch, and Ringworm. Allylamine antifungals are used to kill fungi to treat athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and nail fungus. Diflucan (generic name fluconazole) is a prescription drug used to treat fungal infections of the urinary tract, vagina, lung, mouth, and brain. Side effects are diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache. Drug interactions, and pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information are provided. Jock itch is the popular name given to an itchy rash in the groin that commonly involves the inner thighs and adjacent skin, including the scrotum in males. Jock itch is most commonly a ringworm (not actually a worm but fungal organisms called dermatophytes) infection known in the medical field as tinea cruris; however, the symptoms may also appear due to a bacterial infection (such as staphylococcus). Lamisil is the brand name of the drug terbinafine, prescribed to treat fingernail and toenail fungal infections. The medicine is also used to treat ringworm, infections of the scalp, jock itch.
