I have a question about DEPAKOTE. I was put on it to help with depression, migraines and to help me sleep at night (and anxiety).anyhow, I have read that it made people gain weight & I have been on it for 2 months but recently noticed myself eating a lot. Do people gain weight because it makes them unusually hungry or does it. I just started taking Depakote and there are two things I've noticed so far. One is blood sugar--the medicine has destabilized my blood sugar so I have to eat every 3 hours or I get shaky and hungry. I think Depakote works in both ways- it does make you more hungry and it can affect your metabolism. When I started taking Depakote, I started Zyprexa at the same time (bad combo for weight gain! I was on Depakote had to stop due to tremors that started. I didn't notice a significant weight gain. My Dr. tried me on Latuda, Saphris, Fanapt, Clozapine.
