Carvedilol (generic) Coreg and Coreg XR (brands) is a type of diuretic drug that treats high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina, manages heart disease, and prevents second heart attacks. Common side effects of carvedilol are diarrhea, high blood sugar, and hypotension (low blood pressure). Side effects that are more serious are vision. Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of carvedilol and gradually increase your dose to allow your body to adjust to the medication. Talk to your doctor about how you feel and about any symptoms you experience during this time. Coreg is a medication used for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure. By blocking the effect of adrenaline, Coreg slows the heart’s pumping action and lowers blood pressure. Coreg, usually taken twice daily and with food, comes in tablets from 3.125 to 25 mg, and capsules from 10 to 80 mg.
