I take Benadryl every night to sleep. Before I got pregnant I was on rx sleepin pills. I have been using Benadryl every night, has anyone heard if this is bad? I tried not taking it and I was up all night with to me is just as bad. I need sleep to work. Can I take Benadryl while I am pregnant? There has been little study done on the effects of Benadryl during pregnancy. Benadryl is considered a B class medication, which means that there is a reasonable amount of experience with a medication during pregnancy and no reason to believe that it would cause harm to the baby. I have really bad allergies and I have always taken benedryl everyday for it, and now that I am pregnant I wanna make sure that it is ok and wont harm the baby. Is it okay to take benadryl while you are pregnant? I have trouble breathing at night because of my sinus head cold/allergies. I don't noramlly like to take anything medications, but I need some relief. Just wondering if it's good or bad. Thanks Although Benedryl is considered by most practitioners to be safe during pregnancy (and yes, I took it with mine), PLEASE!!! NEVER take medical advice from someone over the internet who doesn't know your medical history, especially when you are pregnant!!! I didn't take Benadryl while pregnant, but I wanted to offer another suggestion based on my experience. During my second pregnancy, my OB suggested I try a neti pot and it helped a lot! Generally, you should not take any OTC medication while pregnant unless it is necessary. The following medications and home remedies have no known harmful effects during pregnancy when taken. So, is Benadryl while pregnant safe? The last thing any woman would want is to jeopardize their pregnancy. The last thing any woman would want is to jeopardize their pregnancy. When I was in my first pregnancy I had a cold and allergic reaction that caused rashes on my skin. Benadryl (generic name diphenhydramine) is usually considered safe to take while pregnant and is commonly used as a sedative and antihistamine for treating minor cold and flu symptoms such as runny/stuffy nose, congestion, sneezing, watery eyes, nausea as well as allergy symptoms like rashes, itching and hives [1]. I took benadryl and I'm pregnant.. my eyes got a little puffy. I dont know why. I know I cant take asprin, which isnt in it but, so I dont know if its a allergic reaction or not. the only thing that seems odd is my eyes nothing else and their not really that bad, it could be compared to crying for hours puffiness.
